I've seen it so often it's practically become a meme. Imagine a triangle, but you can only choose two points: healthy, delicious, or affordable. The scenario described does all too frequently happen to be the case, but porque no los tres? Is there really no place that can tick all three corners of this triangle? Enter Mongolian Quick Stop, or M.Q.S., as they sometimes (conveniently) initialize. Found in a few places including the Robinson's Galleria food court and on the ground floor of Waltermart Makati, this quick stop isn't particularly quick but it is a great stop for, shall we say, more conscientious eaters. Because you get to choose exactly what to put in your bowl (each do-it-yourself Mongolian bowl goes for less than Php 160), and you get to select from an array of healthy options, you can fine-tune your meal to your health and flavor specifications. Ease up on the raw chili, though--the get much, much hotter in the end product! If you're looking for a high-protein, low-carb, gluten-free (as far as I know), affordable AND delicious meal, try Mongolian Quick Stop!
I used to live 5 minutes away from Walter Mart, and Mongolian Quick stop used to be one of my usual, cheap lunch spots. What I like about this place is that I can customise the ingredients of my food--which is a big deal for people such as myself who don't eat meat. They do, however, use the same griddle for everyone else's orders so if you're vegan and that doesn't sit well with you, this place might not be a good idea. I get those small boxes that only has veggies (it's around a hundred pesos or less) and that thing is usually enough to get me full. Veggie-wise, they have a good selection, and they allow you to put as much or as little as you want, as long as it fits in the container. The also have noodles! For vegans: be wary of the egg noodles. Aside from the rice boxes, I think what I really love the most about this place is their banana fritters! It's cheap and really satisfies the fried food craving. Don't miss out on the fritters!
